The Woman’s Angle educates, mentors and promotes women directors.

Overview of TWA’s Directing Program

Each year up to ten women directors are selected to participate in The Woman’s Angle’s Directing Program. The short film or video each participant completes during the program can be a narrative, documentary or experimental short. Participants enter the program with a short script or a documentary or experimental treatment. Over a ten-month period they attend a series of intensive workshops emphasizing script/treatment revisions, preproduction, production and post-production. At the completion of the program, finished shorts will be promoted and screened for the public.

All participants in the Directing Program must be women and must be the director of the proposed short. To be considered for selection to participate in TWA’s Directing Program, the applicant must submit a completed application. In addition to the application, they must also submit either a standard format script of no more than 10 pages or a documentary or experimental treatment of no more than 5 pages.

TWA encourages applicants to submit scripts written by someone other than the applicant. However, scripts written by the applicant will be considered. If the author of the script is someone other than the applicant or if the script is adapted from another author’s work, the applicant must obtain all the necessary rights from the author(s) before submitting the script along with the application.
